Short answer

Yes, you can ask Grok Bot to register your number on the National Do Not Call Registry, and it's free. I checked the FTC's Do Not Call page, and it says the Registry "is designed to stop unwanted sales calls from real companies that follow the law." It can take up to 31 days for sales calls to stop, and it won't stop scammers or political, charity, debt collection or survey calls.

Steps

The lowest plan that includes Grok Bot is Premium on The X Subscription, at $30/month before tax (xAI pricing).

  1. Get Premium or higher at x.ai/pricing. If your account already includes Grok Bot, skip this step.
  2. Optional, but it's what I'd do: give your Bot its own email address, so the registry's confirmation email goes to your Bot instead of your personal inbox. Just ask it, "Get yourself an email address." Your Bot asks what name you want, and nothing is claimed until you approve it. Pick the name carefully, because you only get one and you can't rename or delete it later. If you use Grok Bot through a Cursor team, your admin has to turn on agent email first.
  3. Ask your Bot to register your number at DoNotCall.gov. Tell it which email to use: its own address, or yours if you'd rather click the link yourself.
  4. Confirm within 72 hours. The registry emails a link, and your registration isn't finished until that link is opened. If the email went to your Bot's address, your Bot can pick up the link with your OK. The prompt below tells it to ask you before it opens the link and to open only that one. If the email went to you, click it yourself.
  5. The next day, ask your Bot to look your number up at DoNotCall.gov and tell you whether it's on the Registry. If it isn't, make sure the confirmation link was opened within the 72 hours.

If your household has more than one phone, you can register up to three numbers in one go, and each one gets its own confirmation email. Only personal lines count, so leave business and fax numbers out. You only do this once per number, but if you get a new number, register that one too. And if anyone ever calls offering to put you on the Registry, say no. It's free to do yourself.

Copy this prompt to your Grok Bot

Replace [your number] with your own phone number before you send it.

Register my phone number, [your number], on the National Do Not Call Registry at https://www.donotcall.gov. Enter my phone number only on DoNotCall.gov, and don't send it, post it or save it anywhere else. Use your own Grok Bot email address for the confirmation. When the confirmation email arrives, ask me before you open the link, and open only that one link. Finish within 72 hours. If the site shows a captcha or another human step, hand it to me. When you're done, tell me what you submitted and whether the registration is confirmed.

What it won't stop

  1. Sales calls can take up to 31 days to stop.
  2. Political calls, charity calls, debt collection calls, purely informational calls and surveys are still allowed, as long as they don't include a sales pitch.
  3. Companies you've bought from recently, or gave written permission to, can still call. Tell them to stop, and they have to. When you do, write down the company and the date you asked, so you have a record if they keep calling.
  4. It's a list that honest telemarketers check, not a call blocker, so scammers ignore it. If a robocall tries to sell you something, hang up, and don't press any buttons to get off their list, because that can bring more calls. For fewer scam calls, look into call-blocking and call-labeling options for your phone.
  5. It doesn't remove your number from people-search and data-broker sites. For that, see Can Grok Bot remove my phone number from spam-call lists?

How do I report a company that keeps calling?

  1. Wait until your number has been on the Registry for 31 days.
  2. Report unwanted sales calls at DoNotCall.gov. Include your number, the number on your caller ID, any number you were told to call back, and the date and time.
  3. If you lost money or know who called, report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Reported by users, not yet in the docs

One user on X says his Bot registered his number "including clicking the confirmation email (Grok Bot dedicated email)." Grok Bot's documented email feature covers a Bot picking up a verification link with your OK. Clicking it for you isn't documented yet, so treat that as something users report. Another user said on October 15 that the registry site wasn't working for his Bot or for him. If the site gives your Bot trouble, register yourself at DoNotCall.gov.
