What if the Spam-Call Scrubber template says "Couldn't add bot"?

The Grok Bot docs don't cover the "Couldn't add bot" error, and we haven't confirmed a fix ourselves. Email support@x.ai with the template link and the exact error.

Short answer

The official Grok Bot docs don't cover the "Couldn't add bot" error, so we won't guess at a fix. Some people see "Couldn't create the Bot. Try again." instead, and this answer applies to that message too. Other people on X are reporting the same error, so it isn't only you. We haven't confirmed a workaround ourselves.

The best step is to email xAI support at support@x.ai. Include the template link, the exact error text, your country, and whether you're on desktop or phone, so they can trace it.

Spam-Call Scrubber is a free third-party Bot template. It was not made by xAI or by us.

Steps

Step 1: Email xAI support at support@x.ai. That's where the "Email support" link in xAI's Grok Bot docs goes.

Step 2: In your email, include the template link (https://x.ai/bot/fUj6TYhiW_cjtzWvbsFgz), the exact error text, your country, and whether you're on desktop or phone, so they can trace it.

If it still fails

If support finds a fix, or you find one that works, reply to Eric on X at @EricSoundMinds and let him know, so we can update this page.

What the docs say about adding a Bot from a link

xAI's Create and manage Bots page says this about adding a Bot from a link: "The recipient opens a preview on x.ai and can choose Add to Grok Bot. They need the Grok Bot app to finish adding it."

The docs don't explain why adding a Bot would fail or what the "Couldn't add bot" error means.

The docs don't list any country limits on adding a Bot. The only regional limit they mention is for tagging the Grok Bot account on X, which "is not yet available for accounts based in Australia, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway." For tagging, the docs say the limit goes by "the country X has on record for your account, so your current location and any VPN have no effect." The docs don't say that your country stops you from adding a Bot.

Who made the template

The Spam-Call Scrubber template page credits it to "Arash". On X, @MinimalDuck shared it and says they made it. It was not made by xAI or by us.
