Short answer

Grok Bot can now sign in to websites with logins saved in your 1Password account, and it never sees the password. I checked Grok Bot's official post on X, and it says, "Approve the logins you want to share, and your Bot signs in for you." I also checked 1Password's Grok Bot page, and it says, "Grok Bot doesn’t see your password or one-time code, and you don’t need to paste either into a conversation."

It's still rolling out. I checked Grok Bot's official post on X, and it also says, "This new integration is rolling out to users over the next few days." So if you don't see it yet, give it a few days.

Steps

Here's the setup path I'd follow. Grok Bot's own help pages don't have a 1Password page yet, so I've used the general steps for connecting an app, plus what 1Password and Cursor staff members have written. If a button in your app has a different name, go by what your app shows.

Step 1: Check that your 1Password account can use it. I checked 1Password's Grok Bot page, and it says, "Yes, if you have an account on 1password.com. 1Password for Agents is included in Individual and Families plans on 1password.com." It also says, "Accounts on 1password.eu and 1password.ca and Business and Team Starter Pack accounts aren’t currently eligible for this integration."

Step 2: Open Connect apps and add 1Password. I checked Cursor's Connect apps help page, and it says, "In Grok Bot, select Connect apps in the sidebar, or follow an in-chat Connect card. In the Grok Bot mobile app, tap your avatar on the top left and select Connect apps." It also says, "When Grok Bot asks you to Authorize or Authenticate, finish the provider login in your browser." Further down, it says, "Confirm the app appears under Installed."

Step 3: Choose what to share. I checked 1Password's Grok Bot page, and it says, "Grok Bot can request to use specific logins you approve through 1Password. Connecting Grok Bot does not give it access to your entire vault." For the earlier connector, I found a Cursor forum thread where a Cursor staff member explained that you share by moving logins into one vault. They wrote, "So today the way to share only what you want is to move the specific logins into the “Shared with Grok Bot” vault. Anything you leave in your other vaults is never visible to Grok Bot." I haven't found anything that says whether the new rollout still uses that vault, so if your app sets one up, put only the logins you want your Bot to use in it.

Step 4: Approve each sign-in. I checked 1Password's for Agents page, and it says, "The person sees which credential it needs and why, and then chooses whether to approve the request. If approved, 1Password fills it directly into the sign-in form." It also says, "If more than one saved login matches, you can choose which one 1Password uses." Before you say yes, think about what the Bot will be able to do. I checked 1Password's Grok Bot page, and it says, "Signing in can give Grok Bot access to information and actions within that account, so review the account and task before approving access."

Step 5: Never paste a password into chat, even if the connection isn't working yet. I checked xAI's Approvals, security, and privacy page, and it says, "Do not send a password or one-time code in ordinary chat."

Step 6: Turn it off when you're done with it. I checked 1Password's Grok Bot page, and it says, "Disconnect access when you no longer want Grok Bot to use your logins stored in 1Password." I also checked xAI's Approvals, security, and privacy page, and it says, "Delete a connector or revoke its authorization in the source service when access is no longer needed."

If the sign-in page never finishes authorizing

I haven't found a fix just for 1Password. These are the general fixes from the help pages, plus what Cursor staff members have written about the earlier connector. Go through them in order.

Bring the sign-in page back. I checked Cursor's Connect apps help page, and it says, "If sign-in doesn't finish, choose Reconnect on the app, or Reopen on the in-chat card, to bring the sign-in page back."

Run the authorization again with the right account. I checked xAI's Troubleshooting page, and it says, "Open Connect apps from the sidebar, choose Your plugins, and confirm the plugin is listed under Installed." Further down, it says, "Reopen its detail page and choose the authentication action," and "Complete authorization with the intended account in the browser." It also says, "If authentication was revoked in the source service, remove and reconnect the plugin."

Restart the app all the way. For the earlier connector, I found a Cursor forum thread where a Cursor staff member wrote, "Fully quit Grok Bot with Cmd+Q. Closing the window isn’t enough, since the connect dialog stays blocked until the app restarts." They also wrote, "Reopen Grok Bot and click Connect 1Password again." Cmd+Q is how you quit on a Mac.

Check your account type. Remember that 1password.eu, 1password.ca, Business and Team Starter Pack accounts aren't currently eligible, as Step 1 says. If you use Grok Bot through a Cursor team, I checked Cursor's Connect apps page, and it says, "If an app is disabled, ask your admin to enable it."

Clean up leftovers. A Cursor staff member wrote on the forum, "each failed attempt created a leftover service account named “Grok Bot agents” plus a date in your 1Password account. You can safely delete the extra ones in 1Password.com under Developer, then Service Accounts."

For the earlier connector, a Cursor staff member also described a way to connect without the browser sign-in, by making the token yourself. They wrote, "In 1Password, create a vault named “Shared with Grok Bot” and move in the logins you want to share." Next, they wrote, "On 1Password.com, go to Developer → Service Accounts and create a service account with read access to only that vault." They also wrote, "In Grok Bot, open the 1Password connector, click “Use a service account token instead,” and paste the token." They added, "This option is in recent versions of Grok Bot, so update first if you don’t see it." I also checked 1Password's Get started with 1Password Service Accounts page, and it says, "The service account creation wizard only shows the service account token once." It also says, "Treat this token like a password, and don’t store it in plaintext." So copy it straight into that 1Password connector field, enter it nowhere else, and keep it secret. Never paste it into chat. I haven't tried this with the new rollout.

If it still fails, contact support. A Cursor staff member on the forum asked people to "share the exact message you see and roughly how many items are in the shared vault". Never send a password.

How is this different from the 1Password connector I already had?

Some of us had a 1Password connector in Grok Bot before this launch. I found a Cursor forum thread where a Cursor staff member described how it worked. They wrote, "Grok Bot only uses that short-lived session to create the “Shared with Grok Bot” vault and a service account that can only read items in that vault." In another thread, a Cursor staff member wrote, "It has read-only access to that single vault, and you still approve each fill from your device." So with the old connector, you picked a whole vault to share.

The new integration is described login by login. I checked 1Password's Grok Bot page, and it says, "Grok Bot can request to use specific logins you approve through 1Password." I also checked 1Password's for Agents page, and it says, "Once the website accepts the login, 1Password removes the credential so the agent can’t read or reuse it as it continues the task."

I haven't found any official word on whether the new integration replaces the old connector or whether you'll need to connect again. I'll update this page once there is.

When will I get it, and is it on Android?

I checked Grok Bot's official post on X, and it says, "This new integration is rolling out to users over the next few days." It doesn't list platforms. I checked 1Password's Grok Bot page, and it says, "Rolling out over the coming days across all platforms." Neither page names Android or gives a date for each platform, and I didn't find any either. The Grok Bot app does run on Android. I checked xAI's Grok Bot for Mobile page, and it lists "a phone with Android 9 or later". It also says, "The mobile app connects to the same Bots, conversations, routines, connectors, and shared cloud computer as the desktop app."

Rolling out over the coming days across all platforms.

Grok Bot doesn’t see your password or one-time code, and you don’t need to paste either into a conversation.

Grok Bot can request to use specific logins you approve through 1Password. Connecting Grok Bot does not give it access to your entire vault.

Signing in can give Grok Bot access to information and actions within that account, so review the account and task before approving access.

Yes, if you have an account on 1password.com. 1Password for Agents is included in Individual and Families plans on 1password.com.

Accounts on 1password.eu and 1password.ca and Business and Team Starter Pack accounts aren’t currently eligible for this integration.

Disconnect access when you no longer want Grok Bot to use your logins stored in 1Password.

1Password, 1Password for Agents: https://1password.com/personal-ai-agent-integrations

The person sees which credential it needs and why, and then chooses whether to approve the request. If approved, 1Password fills it directly into the sign-in form.

Once the website accepts the login, 1Password removes the credential so the agent can’t read or reuse it as it continues the task.

If more than one saved login matches, you can choose which one 1Password uses.

Cursor help, Connect apps: https://cursor.com/help/grok-bot/connect-apps

In Grok Bot, select Connect apps in the sidebar, or follow an in-chat Connect card. In the Grok Bot mobile app, tap your avatar on the top left and select Connect apps.

When Grok Bot asks you to Authorize or Authenticate, finish the provider login in your browser.

Confirm the app appears under Installed.

If sign-in doesn't finish, choose Reconnect on the app, or Reopen on the in-chat card, to bring the sign-in page back.

If an app is disabled, ask your admin to enable it.

xAI, Troubleshooting: https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/troubleshooting

Open Connect apps from the sidebar, choose Your plugins, and confirm the plugin is listed under Installed.

Reopen its detail page and choose the authentication action.

Complete authorization with the intended account in the browser.

If authentication was revoked in the source service, remove and reconnect the plugin.

xAI, Approvals, security, and privacy: https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/approvals-security-and-privacy

Do not send a password or one-time code in ordinary chat.

Delete a connector or revoke its authorization in the source service when access is no longer needed.

a phone with Android 9 or later

The mobile app connects to the same Bots, conversations, routines, connectors, and shared cloud computer as the desktop app.

Cursor forum, 1Password Connector (staff reply): https://forum.cursor.com/t/1password-connector/172310

Grok Bot only uses that short-lived session to create the “Shared with Grok Bot” vault and a service account that can only read items in that vault.

In 1Password, create a vault named “Shared with Grok Bot” and move in the logins you want to share.

On 1Password.com, go to Developer → Service Accounts and create a service account with read access to only that vault.

In Grok Bot, open the 1Password connector, click “Use a service account token instead,” and paste the token.

This option is in recent versions of Grok Bot, so update first if you don’t see it.

1Password Developer, Get started with 1Password Service Accounts: https://developer.1password.com/docs/service-accounts/get-started/

The service account creation wizard only shows the service account token once.

Treat this token like a password, and don’t store it in plaintext.

Cursor forum, 1Password vault-only access in GrokBot (staff reply): https://forum.cursor.com/t/1password-vault-only-access-in-grokbot/172524

It has read-only access to that single vault, and you still approve each fill from your device.

So today the way to share only what you want is to move the specific logins into the “Shared with Grok Bot” vault. Anything you leave in your other vaults is never visible to Grok Bot.

Cursor forum, Grokbot & 1Password (staff reply): https://forum.cursor.com/t/grokbot-1password/173142

Fully quit Grok Bot with Cmd+Q. Closing the window isn’t enough, since the connect dialog stays blocked until the app restarts.

Reopen Grok Bot and click Connect 1Password again.

each failed attempt created a leftover service account named “Grok Bot agents” plus a date in your 1Password account. You can safely delete the extra ones in 1Password.com under Developer, then Service Accounts.
