The emails don't need to match. Grok Bots move to the primary account with chats, memory and files. The Bot inbox, settings and connector setup stay behind.

The emails don't need to match. The docs say: "The email addresses on your accounts don’t need to match." [1]
Your Grok Bots move to the primary account "with the same bot IDs," along with their chats, memory and files. The Bot email inbox, settings and connector (MCP) setup stay on the other account. [2]
The docs add one condition: "If the accounts can't be confirmed as belonging to the same person, Grok Bot data isn't moved."
We collected these first-hand reports from X. They are not official and we couldn't verify them.
The docs say that if combining stops partway, some Grok Bot data may stay on the other account until it finishes, and nothing is deleted. If your bots don't appear where you expect after unifying, we'd contact xAI Support.

Your Grok Bots, with the same bot IDs. They keep working next to the primary account's Grok Bots.
If combining stops partway, no Grok Bot data is deleted, but some of it may stay on the other account until combining finishes. Contact Support if that happens.
