Why did my Grok Bot routine run at the wrong time?

Routines use the Timezone in Grok Bot Settings. Check it, then open the routine and confirm When to run shows the schedule you meant.

Short answer

Grok Bot routines follow the time zone saved in the app's settings. Cursor's Grok Bot help says, "Schedules use the time zone in Settings, under Bot, labeled Timezone." xAI's docs describe the same setting as the "Timezone, which routines use for schedules."

The docs don't say whether telling your Bot your time zone in chat changes that setting, so check the setting itself. Then open the routine and check When to run, which Cursor's help says "shows the saved schedule in words, so you can confirm it matches what you meant."

Steps

Step 1: Open Grok Bot settings on your computer. xAI's docs say, "Open the account menu and choose Settings, or press Cmd/Ctrl+,."

Step 2: In Settings, find Timezone in the Bot section and check it. Cursor's help says, "Auto-detect follows this computer. Pick a zone when the routine should follow a different one, such as the office where the work belongs."

Step 3: Open the routine. On desktop, Cursor's help says to "Click the Bot's name at the top of the chat to open its details," then find Routines on the Details tab and click the routine. Check that When to run shows the schedule you meant.

Step 4: If the schedule is wrong, choose Edit and tell the Bot what to fix. Cursor's help says that on desktop, Edit starts a message to the Bot that begins "Edit your routine:" with the routine's name.

Step 5: After you fix the schedule, you can try the routine right away. xAI's docs say, "Use Test run after creating or editing a routine." Cursor's help says to "Open the routine on desktop and choose Test," and it adds, "A test does real work."

If it still fails

On a phone, Cursor's help says a routine shows its "Schedule" and "Next run" when you open the Bot's profile and tap the routine under Routines. The Grok Bot for Mobile docs don't list the Timezone setting, so we can't confirm the phone app shows it.

If the routine still runs at the wrong time, email xAI support at support@x.ai. That's where the "Email support" link in xAI's Grok Bot docs goes. xAI's troubleshooting page asks you to collect "The Bot or routine name" and "The approximate time and time zone" before you contact support.
