Short answer

Install the X Money plugin in Grok Bot, then enter the connection code in the X Money app and approve it with your passkey. Every action that moves money waits for you to tap Approve. To turn it off, revoke Grok Bot in X Money's Connections screen. X Money is rolling out to select users in the United States who are 18 or older.

How do I connect X Money to Grok Bot, and how do I turn it off?

I checked the X Money plugin page in Cursor's official plugins repo on GitHub, and here's how the whole thing works, from connecting to disconnecting.

Before you start

  1. Have an active X Money account on the same X account. X Money is rolling out to select users in the United States who are 18 or older.
  2. Have a passkey on your X account. If you don't have one, set it up in X under Settings, then Security.

1. Connect X Money

  1. In Grok Bot, open Plugins, search for X Money, and click Install. Or just ask your bot to connect X Money.
  2. A page called Connect Grok Bot to X Money opens in your browser with a connection code and a QR code.
  3. Open the X Money app on the X account that owns your X Money account. Enter the code or scan the QR code, then approve with your passkey.
  4. Do it quickly, because the code is only good for about five minutes, and each code works once. The page confirms the connection, and Grok Bot picks it up by itself.

Heads up: since Grok Bot version 0.75.5, connecting X also connects X Money through the same account. So if you've already connected X, X Money may already be there. If you didn't expect that, check the Connections screen in step 5.

2. What it can and can't do

With X Money connected, your bot can:

To use any of these, just ask your bot in chat. Anything that moves money brings up the Approve or Cancel prompt first.

X Money decides which of those your account gets, so yours may differ from someone else's. Higher-risk transfers stay in the X app, and your bot can't do them. Your bot also never sees your X Money password, your passkey, or your bank login. Card details for a purchase go straight to the checkout and don't show up in chat.

3. Every money move needs your approval

Before your bot sends money, requests money, or pays a merchant, you get an Approve or Cancel prompt that says who gets paid, how much, and what for. Nothing happens until you tap Approve, and each action needs its own approval. X Money also checks this on its end and refuses any of those actions that wasn't approved. Payments are real, so read the prompt before you tap.

4. Set up a weekly report (example prompt)

A routine is how you get something every week. Grok Bot's routines run on a schedule in the cloud, even with your laptop closed. Here's an example you can paste into a chat with your bot and change to fit you:

Every Monday at 8 AM, read my X Money balance and last week's transactions. Sum them up by category, list my five biggest charges, and point out anything that looks like a repeating subscription. This is read-only: don't send, request, or spend any money, and don't set anything up that does.

Then open the routine and check When to run to make sure the schedule is what you meant. A new routine waits for its first scheduled time, so use Test if you want to see a report right away.

5. Disconnect X Money

  1. Go to x.com/i/money/settings/connections. In the X app, that's Money, then Settings, then Connections.
  2. Find Grok Bot and revoke it. That ends the connection right away.
  3. If you connect X to Grok Bot again later, come back to this screen and make sure X Money is still off.

6. If connecting fails

  1. "This code has expired. …" Tap Connect in Grok Bot again and approve the new code right away.
  2. "This connection was not approved." The approval was declined in the X Money app. Tap Connect again and approve the new code.
  3. "The connection code is invalid, expired, or already used." Make sure you're in the X Money app on the X account that holds your X Money account, then start over from Connect.
  4. The passkey step fails. Set up a passkey in X under Settings, then Security, and approve again.
  5. "New customer connections are not currently accepted." X Money is rolling this out in stages. It isn't a problem with your account, so try again later.
  6. "Something went wrong. …" Refresh the page. If it happens again, tap Connect in Grok Bot to start over.
